2008 Evergreen Little League “Fields of Green” Fund

The 2008 Evergreen Little League “Fields of Green” Fund proposes to raise $150,000 primarily to fund capital improvement projects at Evergreen Little League's (ELL) 20 baseball and softball fields. These projects include permanent improvements, such as fencing, batting cages and irrigation, as well as ongoing field maintenance expenses. This campaign does not replace team sponsorships, which primarily fund team equipment as well as awards and activities during the season for players.

Campaign Rationale:

The 2008 ELL Fields of Green Fund is raising money to:

l        improve the safety of ELL's playing fields and practice facilities

l        create a positive playing and learning experience for the children

l        enrich the community

Evergreen Little League is one of the largest Little Leagues in the district, with 54 teams and 20 playing/practice fields. Although ELL has many generous sponsors, the continued growth of the league, combined with the goal of keeping registration fees reasonable for all players,* has created an urgent need for additional funds to make major improvements to ELL's playing facilities.  Most of the fields are on school district property, and the schools only water and mow the fields.  ELL takes responsibility for all other maintenance and field improvements. ELL's proposed improvements not only benefit Little League participants, but also enrich school athletics programs and the community as a whole.

*Registration fees cover only 50% of ELL's operating costs.

Sponsor Benefits:

l       Sponsor plaques or banners for major capital improvement donations (such as batting cages, snack shacks, bull pens, fences, etc.)

l        Publicity in ELL newsletter, on website, and possible publicity articles in local newspapers

l       Booth space and acknowledgment at the 2008 Evergreen Little League Opening Day Ceremony (if donation made before March 15, 2008)

l        ELL is a non-profit 501 (C) (3) organization, making all donations fully tax-deductible
